If you ever find yourself
stuck in the middle of the sea/
I’ll sail the world/
To find you/

You reached your trembling hands to your purse and searched for your phone. Sun was shining low, straight to your eyes, and made it impossible to see anything but shadows and figures. Everything seemed to be the same. You had just walked down the Spanish stairs with your boyfriend, but you managed to lose him in the minute you reached the huge sea of people under them. You continued to feeling around in a soft pit where you kept your belongings, but your fingers didn’t get a hold of your small mobile. You began to hyperventilate. There was simply too much to register. Panic crawled to your throat like a large snake and settled to the bottom of your stomach. You wanted to scream for him, but you knew he wouldn’t hear you in a chaos of voices. Tears started to fall from your eyes, which blurred your vision even more. You kept rummaging your purse, even though you were sure your phone was stolen. Then you felt a familiar cool and slick surface under your fingers and a knot in your stomach eased a little. Hands still trembling you dialed a number you remembered as well as your own.

“Edward! Come get me out of here!” Your voice was tight and you could barely speak.

“(Name), where are you?” Instead of the phone in your hands, you heard a voice from upper stairs. You looked up from the lowest step you were currently sitting on. There he was. He stood about a halfway up the stairs and scanned the crowd with his hand attempting to shade his eyes from the burning Italian sun. You stumbled to your feet and hurried stairs up to him, knocking down a tourist or two in your way. When you got to him, your legs simply gave in from relief and you sunk to your knees right before him. Edward knelt with you and took your shoulders.

“Look at me, (Name). Are you alright?” You lifted your gaze to Edward’s eyes. You saw deep concern in the way he looked at you.

“I thought I lost you,“ you simply stated, tears still flowing. You once again wondered how extraordinary his eye color was. It was like melted amber that glittered in the evening sun.

“I am here now, okay? Now, don’t you dare to disappear like that anymore, I was worried about you,” he scolded you while lifting you up from the dirty ground and wiping your cheeks dry.

“I’m sorry, I thought you were with me.“ He dusted your sundress and grabbed your phone from your hands in a process.

“At least you are okay,” he murmured. “Can you walk?” He held you tight against him and draped your other hand to his shoulder. His steely hand cooled your heated body and sent shivers of pleasure around your spine. You kissed his cheek and saw him blush.

If you ever find yourself
lost in the dark and you can’t see/
I’ll be the light/
To guide you

It was pitch black. You were completely alone, you couldn’t even feel a breeze of wind around you, leave alone furniture or any trace of where you were. You only felt smooth floor under your feet. It was also dead quiet. No clocks, no creaks from the floor, nothing. Just silence. You found out that the room temperature was lower than what you were used to, enough for your skin to form goosebumps but not enough for you to freeze to death.

There was nothing.

And it went on and on.

You had no way to measure out time, but you were sure it was still moving forward.
You started to see white figures, approaching you. They floated in and out of your vision. You started to feel the floor disappearing under your feet. You also noticed that the room temperature was gone. Suddenly you thought you could exercise your brain with talking, even though no one was there to hear you except those white figures. You tried to open your mouth, but soon noticed it was glued shut.
You felt your heart picking up its pace. Your breathing hitched and started to speed up as well. Your body started to tremble and you fell to the floor.

Suddenly you felt a warm hand around you. You stirred and opened your eyes. They were blurry, and you felt your face was wet of tears. Edward was there, draping a hand over your shoulders and looking you with his amber eyes. Moonlight illuminated his face.

“Were you having a bad dream?” His voice sounded careful and completely awake.

“Yeah… Thanks for saving me from there. It was awful,” you muttered and dug your face into his chest.

“What was it like?”

“Nothing… Literally,” you peeked at him and gave a laugh to his adorable expression mixed with concern, curiosity and utter uncertainty. “Just black.”
He drew soothing circles to your back.

“Just remember that I’m here for you, okay?”

“Okay.” You smiled.

If you’re tossin’/
And you’re turnin’/
And you just can’t fall asleep/
I’ll sing a song
beside you

You turned to your back and stared the ceiling. You had had sleep problems ever since the nightmare you had five days ago. You just couldn’t fall asleep. You knew you would, eventually, but not until four a.m. Then you would be irritated and whiny all day, again. And ruin the vacation from Edward. You curled to your side for what seemed like an umpteenth time that night. Edward seemed to be fast asleep beside you, filling your side with his warm presence. A small smile tugged to his lips as he dreamed about something. He sighed and a word slipped past his lips.

“(Name)…” Your eyes widened and you felt blood rushing to your cheeks. You wiggled yourself closer to his side and reached your hand to run through his golden blonde hair.

Edward’s eyebrows knitted together and then relaxed as a sign he had woken up. He blinked his eyes open.

“Oh my gosh, Edward, did I wake you up? I’m so sorry,” you whispered. By all means, you didn’t mean to disturb your boyfriend, not when you were ruining his vacation enough being grumpy and like a child most of the day because of your lack of sleep.

“It’s okay, (Name),” he muttered with husky voice and sucked in a breath. Even half awake, he seemed so serene. “Have you been up all night?”

“Yeah.” You closed your eyes and rubbed your nose against Edward’s. “It’s like that nightmare is still continuing.”

“Come here.”
Edward opened his arms for you to crawl in. He surrounded you with his warm scent and strong arms, the other one of them made of steel. His hand traveled to the back of your head and pressed your ear to his chest. You closed your eyes and listened closely. His strong heartbeats were steady and easily heard. While you stayed totally silent, Edward started to hum. It wasn’t a tune you recognized, but nevertheless it was soothing. After a while your eyelids started to feel heavy and you began to yawn.

It was not long from that moment when Edward found you sound asleep in his arms, squeezing him tightly. He smiled gently and placed a kiss on the top of your head. You sighed in your sleep and smiled happily.

And if you ever forget
how much you really mean to me/
Every day I will
remind you

You twisted your hips in front of a mirror. Shiny red fabric hugged your curves in a way you weren’t so sure about. You settled to face the mirror directly and started to comb through your hair. You gathered it onto a bun and pulled a few strands of hair out. Eyeing the mirror coolly, you let out a frustrated sigh. Edward peeked through the door.

“What’s wrong?” His breath hitched when you saw you standing uncomfortably in front of a mirror, hugging your elbows, brows knitted together.

“You look so beautiful,” he breathed out.

“Don’t mess with me now. I’m not sure about this. Isn’t this dress too deeply cut? And the bun is too messy, isn’t it?”
Edward simply walked to you, grabbed your waist, lifted your chin with his steely hand and looked you deep into your eyes.

“You are beautiful in whatever you wear, darling,” he stated with a deep voice. You blushed. Darling? Edward never called you nicknames. “But now you look like you’re being pulled out from a fairy tale.”

You closed your eyes as Edward’s face came closer. When your lips met, you could swear you saw sparks fly outside of your eyelids. He turned his head a little to deepen the kiss. You wrapped your hands behind his neck and pulled him closer. He gave you the oh-so-familiar tingling in the bottom of your stomach. You shivered from pleasure as you felt his tongue tracing along your lower lip.
You pulled out of the kiss and smiled to him.

“Well, you made your point clear. Come on then, our reservation is going to expire if we don’t hurry.” You took your boyfriend by the hand and pulled him out of the door and into the chilly Roman night.

You can count on me/
like one, two, three
I’ll be there

While you were in the restaurant, it had started raining. Cobblestone alleys were slippery and it was hard time for you to stay upright. You clung on to Edward’s hand tightly and struggled forward with him. You two had an umbrella over you, but still you were both wet as if you had gone swimming with all your clothes on. Suddenly you stepped weirdly and your ankle twisted. You let a screech as you started to fall towards the wet ground. In nothing more than a blink of an eye Edward had his arms around you and you were securely against him.

“You’ll have to be more careful, (Name),” he scolded you softly and you let out a snort.

“You know, it’s slippery here, in case you haven’t noticed,” you snapped back. You knitted your brows together and pouted a little. You were holding your hands against his chest and noticed his heart picking up its pace.

“A-anyways, thanks for saving me, again.” Edward smiled and blushed a tiniest bit.

“It’s nothing. Are you okay? You did twist your ankle, I can tell.”

“It seems to be okay,” you guessed. You tried lowering your foot to the ground and flinched. “…No, it’s not. I can’t really put any weight on it.” Edward looked you for a moment and then opened his mouth hesitantly.

“Well, we don’t have much choice, then.”

“What are you-“ Edward bent down and picked you up to his arms bridal style. You gripped his neck and pressed your face to the crook of his neck.

“Don’t be afraid, I’m not going to drop you, okay?”

“But I’m so heavy.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me. I have an almighty automail, remember?” He chuckled. You just had to giggle a bit.

“Fine. But don’t you dare to drop me!” You kissed Edward’s cheek and smiled.

~

And I know
when I need it/
I can count on you/
Like four, three, two
You’ll be there

“Hello?” The call came from an unknown number. You supported your mobile to your ear with your shoulder while washing the dishes.

“(Name), can you come to pick me up?” Edward’s voice sounded muffled. Worry washed over you and twisted your stomach.

“Of course. Where are you?” You dried your hands, picked up your car keys and ran to the car. The engine started to roar and in five minutes you were where Edward was.

“What happened?” You opened passenger’s door and Edward slid in.

“I… Well… I got mugged.” He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly and looked down in shame.
You stomped on a brake pedal and stared your boyfriend in shock. He had a black eye and a little blood running from his hairline.

“Are you okay? What… Where… How…?” You weren’t even able to produce whole sentences. Your vision became blurred, you were at the verge of tears.

“They just jumped to my face out of nowhere. I didn’t have any time to defend myself when they already got my arms secured. There were at least eight of them, I swear,” he muttered, sounding bitter. You turned fully to him and reached your hand to wipe away the line of blood from his forehead. “They took everything I had with me- car keys, my wallet and my phone. It even had photos of you in it! I’m so sorry, (Name), I really am.” His voice began to shake.

“There’s no need to apologize from me. They should be sorry, not you!” you exclaimed with as much bitterness in your voice as Edward had in his. As he turned to face you, you noticed tears in his eyes. He gave you a weak smile as you ran your hand through his golden hair, now tangled from the attack.

“I’ve got your back,” you muttered. Edward’s smile grew stronger.

~

You’ll always have my shoulder
when you cry/

You let out a small hiccup. Your face was wet from tears and your form was huddled. You sat crouched in a hard bench inside of your hometown’s church. Edward was in your side, moved himself, too. He patted your shoulder clumsily, as if not knowing what to do. You leaned in to his shoulder and he draped his warm hand about your waist.

“I’m so sorry, (Name). What can I do to make you feel better?” Edward whispered in your ear over the organs booming their notes to the chapel.

“Just hold me,” you whispered weakly to him and moved to sit partially in his lap, legs across his. You could hear old hags of your home town mutter evil-willingly to your actions, but you couldn’t care less. You were broken and you wanted Edward to stick all the pieces together again. And, as if he had read your thoughts, Edward opened his mouth and spoke the words you had been craving for the whole ceremony.

“I’ll hold you until you’re whole again. My sweetheart.”

~

I’ll never let go, never say
goodbye

It was one of those lazy Saturdays again. You were lying on Edward’s lap while you two watched some brainless sitcoms from TV. Edward stroked his hand through your freely flowing hair. You sighed happily and turned to your back, watching your boyfriend watch the television, eyes half-lidded.

“Hey, Ed.” He jumped a little and set his eyes on you.

“Yeah?” You gave a small laugh at his husky, sleepy voice.

“Come here, lay with me.” You lifted your head from his lap and moved so Edward could crawl next to you. You faced each other, breathing same breaths. He set his other hand straight for you to set your neck comfortably and wrapped his steely hand around you. You let out a long, long sigh and looked Edward deeply to his eyes.

“Say…” you broke the silence.

“What is it?” Edward gave you a concerned smile.

“Will you be here forever?” Ed gave you one of his most handsome grins.

“Only if you are.”

Your heart jumped as he kissed you.

You can count on me
‘cause I can count on you.

Fin.

So, this isn't my first fanfic, but it's the first I've ever published :D I got the inspiration from a song called Count on me by Bruno Mars, though I think it is more about friendship than love. Naturally, I was horrible and took just the parts that fit to a love story and ditched the rest B-) (Cool)
Anyways, enjoy! Love

Fullmetal Alchemist belongs to Hiromu Arakawa
Story belongs to me
Song belongs to Bruno Mars
You belong to Edward ;) (Wink)

URGH, I almost forgot! Thankyou, xXGiggleDeathProXx for being my beta-reader! I appreciate it ^_^

I wish there was fanfictions for people with short hair, hair that's too short to put into a bun, or curl, or put in pigtails. I also with there was Edward fanfics where the oc or reader wasn't female. It's getting boring.
